Iowa State University Extension is offering a three-hour
manure applicator certification workshop for dry manure operators on Feb.
26, from 9 a.m. to noon.
This certification meeting is for both confinement site
manure applicators and commercial manure applicators who primarily apply
dry manure. Although confinement site applicators are only required to
attend two hours of annual training, this meeting will be three hours
in length to provide training to commercial applicators, and all attendees
will be required to stay for the three-hour workshop.
Workshop topics will include current regulatory requirements
for manure applicators, stockpiling manure and water quality issues, and
solid manure distribution from different types of dry manure application
equipment.
The meeting will be held at Memorial Hall in Eagle Grove,
Iowa. Applicators need to be at the session prior to the 9 a.m. start
and need to bring their current certification number to complete paperwork
requirements. There is no registration fee for the meeting, but applicators
are asked to pre-register prior to Feb. 24 to ensure adequate space and
materials by calling the Wright County Extension office at (515) 532-3453.
