I have to admit, I wonder what happened to the month of January? I had good intentions of sending out an IMMAG Update newsletter in January, but January tends to find me on the road with workshops. Today’s update contains a quick reminder about some upcoming events. I will send out a second newsletter later in February with information about new resources and few surprises.

MANURE APPLICATOR CERTIFICATION:

There are 37 confinement site manure applicator workshops scheduled in February. Confinement site applicators who choose to meet certification requirements via training are reminded they need to attend 2 hours of annual training each year to maintain their certification. A complete list of workshops dates and locations is available at: http://www.agronext.iastate.edu/immag/certification/confdates.html

There are also 6 dry manure applicator workshops scheduled for the remainder of February. These workshops are 3 hours long and meet the certification requirements for both commercial and confinement site manure applicators. You can find more information and list of locations and dates by clicking here.

Commercial manure applicators who still need to meet certification requirements prior to March 1, should plan to attend one of the dry manure workshops listed above or contact their county extension office to schedule time to watch the training DVD? Don’t have time to sit through training? You can always schedule an appointment at the local DNR field office to take the certification exam.
