Low stream levels and high temperatures make streams very vulnerable to runoff of nutrients during this time of year.  The DNR urges caution and offers some tips in this press release “Fish kills more likely under current stream conditions.”

As you scrape open feedlot pens to maintain lot conditions and to capture manure nutrients for application to fields at a later date, please remember to observe and follow rules for stockpiling manure from open feedlots.  Please see the DNR fact sheet Open Feedlot Manure Stockpiling Regulations.   If your open feedlot is larger than 1,000 animal units and you have a NPDES permit please consult the terms of your permit for stockpiling requirements.

The IMMAG Events page is a compilation of manure management related events.  Please check the events page often for new listings.
